At the early age of
seventeen, Neill Whitlock knew in his heart that traveling and photography were
his life's passions. After graduating from Guilford College in North Carolina,
Neill fulfilled his "alternative service" at General Rose Memorial Hospital in
Denver during the Vietnam War. Neill remained in Colorado after fulfilling his
obligations in order to photograph and explore the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
From Colorado, Neill ventured to Massachusetts, where he took a summer job
lobster fishing. Working for $20 a week and free lobster, he photographed and
documented the decline of coastal fishing villages along the Northeastern
shoreline. With his first photo essay under his belt, he moved to Los Angeles.
There, he studied at the prestigious Art Center College of Design. After studying
and working with some of L.A.'s most successful photographers, Neill launched
his first studio in North Hollywood.
The overwhelming success of
Neill's studio in LA put Neill in the professional spotlight and shortly
thereafter Neill relocated to Dallas and began shooting for high profile
clients such as Neiman Marcus, American Airlines, Harpers Bazaar, Zales, American Express, 7 Eleven, and others. While
Neill's professional commercial career was in the fast lane, Neill continued to
be inspired by his personal passion for photojournalistic work, and when not
traveling the world for work, he traveled the world in pursuit of his own
photographic adventures.
With over forty years of professional experience,
Neill's expertise, love of people, and passion for the creative process kept
him in high demand for a wide range of interesting and challenging commercial
projects. Today, when not busy mentoring College students Neill continues to
travel and photograph the world, still inspired with the same excitement and
joy he felt all those years ago. To see Neill's portfolio please visit:
